Watercolour farm house
Row of cottages
This was done in watercolour with some ink work added
House in the country
This was done in watercolour with autumnal tones.
Caerphilly Castle
I started this watercolour in class and tweaked it at home.
Lightly sketched outline firstly putting in some perspective lines which I feel helped, I need to master this as it makes a big difference to the look of the painting. I have invested in a drawing aid called a Perspectograph, so watch this space.
Watercolours were layered up to intensify the tones. I need to know when to leave things alone, I had a good sky which I promptly ruined and used gesso to cover it up, and start again.
I used a cheaper paper on this one and it was a rubbish it wrinkled bubbled etc. So its now it the grandchildrens box to be covered in felt pen.
Overall I'm ok with the end result.

Meerkats
A lesson to be learnt, wrong choice of paper. I used a canvas finish paper which was hard to work with. Because of the finish I couldn't get the fine lines of the fur.
I coloured the paper with a water colour wash using yellow ochre and a touch of burnt umber. Then sketched the meerkats on, using various washes of acrylic got a base colour which wasnt correct. Adding the eyes and face features the picture came to life. In the picture I have used watercolour, acrylics, fineliners and eventually pastels. Over all I think I did the best I could with a bad job. I will be careful which paper I use in the future.
Camels
Full of eastern promise. When I first saw this I thought you are joking..... but went for it like a camel looking for an oasis to fill up his water hump.
I firstly lightly sketched the outline using a water soluble pencil (my new found tool). I surprised myself when an image of 2 camels and a man appeared on my paper, which I actually liked. But disaster soon struck when adding colour.
Wet on wet was applied using cerulean blue and Rose for the sky , ocheres and sepia were used for the sand. It soon became a patchy mess. I was very disappointed with the whole image.
I don't like to throw anything in the bin but tossed it to one side, morning after I decided to try and rescue it. Although it isn't my best work I think I rescued it......

Autumn Beauty
Sketch a simple scene, wet paper with clean water and add some colour washes using a mop brush. This technique is known as wet on wet.
Starting with the lightest colours first.Allow the colours to bleed into each other. allow to dry and then start layering the colours, this builds up the vibrancy of the different tones,
Hare in the woods
Hare in the woods
I really enjoyed this piece of work.
Using photoshop I merged a picture of a hare onto a woodland picture I'd found on the internet.
I love pen and ink. This picture had to be done using 2 colours.I lightly sketched Woodlands and the hare then added the details using a black fine liners in varying nib sizes. The hare was done using a peat brown fine liner.

Fox
The Fox
This was firstly sketched out then watercolour paint was applied using firstly wet on wet for the background and foreground. Then the colours on the fox were added wet on dry. The finer details were added using a black fine liner.
