Old buildings
This was done in watercolor. After the main sketch was done Watercolor was applied in layers to build up the tones. When dry a fine pen was used to add the details.
I really like the subject.

Lighthouse
This was a lovely piece to do. Graphite pencils were used and a piece of samaye leather was used to blend the pencil. The image was then enhanced by adding layer upon layer. We were shown how to use a piece of paper to blend against certain objects in the image the paper also stopped me smudging my art work.

Castle
Sketched the basic outline then used water colours to enhance the painting.

Bridge in Bosnia
Done with minimal sketching and water colour was used being allowed to dry so the layers could be put on top of each other to get various shades.

Watercolour pencil
Watercolour pencil, spray water bottle and one brush, who'd have thought it would be so effective.
Sketched out basic out line with deep indigo watercolour pencil then went over to build up the details. Lightly sprayed over with water to activate the colour after a couple mins applied a little more water with a brush and just pushed the colour around a little. I love the simplicity of the picture.

House on a hill
Pencil sketch
This was influenced by the artist Frank Rines.
This was drawn using 1 pencil 6B applying different pressures and building up layers.
The pencil was given a chisel edge by lightly sandpapering one edge, this gave a flatter surface which gave it better blending ability. I did not apply any ink as I liked it as it was.

Rembrandt inspired
Both were lightly sketched and various washes were used let to dry and re applied to deepen the colours. Sepia, burnt number and cadmium yellow were used.
Black waterproof ink was used to put all the details in. I really like the effect.

Rembrandt inspired
Thoroughly enjoyed these tasks. First one was done in letterbox size, the other just on A4.

Pen and ink inspired by Rob Adam's
One of my favourite mediums.
Lightly sketched, water colour wash applied in various density of ultra marine and combat blue. Waterproof ink was used for all the details. 2 days later I thought it needed a little something else so I applied more blues with a bit of rose pink. Not sure if I should have left it alone.

Portrait
his was a big challenge as I tend to steer away from portraits. It was a bit of go big or go home.
Ann had gridded out an A3 and so she wasn't on her own I joined her.
Gridded out 2 inch squares and started sketching, this went reasonably well, then the biggest challenge was adding colour.
Light tones of colour were used and allowed to dry then more colours were layered up to intensify the tones. I'm actually quite pleased with the finished result.

St Fagans.jpg
This was done at home. Morning off class as snow stopped play. Sketched roughly then watercolour was used, when dry black ink was used to bring out some detail.

winter scene.
This was quite an enjoyable piece to do.
The biggest challenge was not sketching outline. I'm quite liking gouache the more I use it the better it becomes.
