Lighthouse
The majority of this task was completed in class, I intended to finish the rest that afternoon at home. However I kept putting it off as I dislike drawing rocks . At long last I finished it today and I feel that section lets the rest of the image down. I did enjoy it in the main and found it very relaxing.
Pencil and pen landscape
Another very pleasing image , I had reservations about the tree as I find them quite difficult but I am very happy with this result. My best attempt yet !
Degas nude in pastel
I enjoyed this one using pastel pencils for mark making. I think I have given the model a few extra pounds but there’s a reasonable likeness. Got a little bored when filling in the background so that has let it down to some extent.
Rembrandt sketch
This image lacks the detail that appeals to me. Very vague, scribbling technique with watercolour washes added . Mediocre , as is my effort I’m afraid.
Bridge over riv er
A more colourful interesting watercolour landscape. Reasonably pleased with the result, could have applied less brown maybe and been a little more delicate with my approach.
Watercolour landscape
Simple but effective task using watercolour pencils. A nice change to use this medium would have preferred something more challenging.
Pen study in village
This is just my cup of tea, lovely quirky buildings, lots of interest. Took me several hours to complete this one, noticing areas of detail that at first glance I missed. So engrossed and relaxing, favourite so far. Although it’s on watercolour paper I chose not to add colour as I was happy with pen and ink alone.
Portrait
I would love to be able to paint an accurate portrait I find it quite a challenge. I did enjoy this task it was fun and I am reasonably pleased with the result . I think if the eyes are a perfect likeness then you capture the person’s character better, needed to take more time with the initial sketch.
St Fagans
I loved this image and have spent many a school trip at St Fagans. I really enjoyed making the leafy branches and the mark making using pen and ink.The textured paper I found less favourable for mark making to that of Bristol board, however it was extremely relaxing and I lost trace of all time being so engrossed in it.
