Brecon Landscape
This is my third attempt of this landscape, the first two I was too heavy handed and applied the paint too thickly. My image was not to scale either so I used my trusted grid method and watered the initial applications and added more opaque and contrasting colours later. I really loved it but can’t actually believe that I achieved this, chuffed.

Brecon Mountains 2
econd attempt at this landscape, always better when done at home. Much happier with this effort which took me three hours to complete. Will endeavour to get it right first time.

Cattage
On initial sighting I thought this image looked quite ghostly, vague and not well defined but I surprised myself when getting involved I quite enjoyed it.
I used watercolour tips from a newly purchased book along with those learnt in class in order to complete the task.
The background elements weren’t easy to identify so some additions are of my choosing.
I am really pleased with the overall result and for once I will keep and not bin this effort.

Pear
This is my second attempt done at home, I spoilt the first by not waiting for some areas to dry.
A relatively simple shape , pleased with this better image.

Moon
Second task using same black, white and shades of grey acrylic paint. We were allowed to source our own image and I chose this as It looked simple yet effective. It was fun and good practice at bending colours. I could have improved the reflections in the water.

Jug
Thought this painting was going to be difficult, in fact it was quite easy, really enjoyed it!

Watercolour Venice
More colourful very detailed image. Found it easier to enlarge this picture especially to portray the area above the bridge. I didn’t find this at all easy to paint and I am not entirely happy with the result. I spent hours trying to replicate it and this is my second attempt. Disappointing!

Watercolour lake scene
I found this image a little depressing with it’s mainly brown muddy colours. Not a lot going on in the foreground .
However the easy to follow step by step instructions and sketches made it very easy to complete.

Giraffe
I love animals and this giraffe was a colourful quirky image to portray with watercolour and ink. It was a relaxing task not at all stressful and fun to do.

Castle door
I haven’t used pen and ink for a while , so this task was eagerly awaited.
I like detail and the addition of watercolour enhanced the image. However I had struggles with the barriers getting the perspective right. It isn’t as accurate as it could be but that’s the problem with ink ,once it’s applied there’s no opportunity to erase it.
Overall I am happy with the result.

Portrait
Wish I could do portraits of people but find it quite difficult. I think I have achieved a resemblance and didn’t dislike this task but would have enjoyed it more had I been more accomplished and confident . I used a grid to try and get the proportions right without that I dread to think what the result would have been.

Acrylic Portrait
This is my second attempt at this portrait. I had difficulty getting a good likeness in class , I found the nose and mouth particularly troublesome. I wasn’t happy with my sketch and therefore didn’t really pay much attention to the paint application.
At home I drew a grid with 2 cm squares and found it easier to sketch a much improved image. Adding the acrylic, taking more time I am better pleased with the result. Although the nose and mouth were altered many times I decided to leave well alone in case I ruined it.
