Tilting head
A week burnt umber wash was applied in vertical stripes to add interest to the background. Sketched lightly in pencil then used pen and ink to add detail and identify features. Watercolour washes in various colours completed the head. Finally i used a stronger burnt umber wash over the whole image, simply to see what effect it would have. I am happy with the result and again, enjoyed the whole process.
IStream through Black mountains
Another task involving mixing colours from a simplified palette, particularly useful for Plein Air painting, when travelling light is important.
This image is an actual place, and I would hope that anyone familiar with the area would easily recognise my version.
I always enjoy doing landscape art.

Brecon Beacons
Acrylic landscape. The original has a fresh summer feel, but somehow, I have accidently managed to make it autumnal. However, I did get reflections in the pool of water which is very satisfying .
Working with flowers
This was an enjoyable task, all done in class! The vibrancy of neat acrylic colours is startling and the result is always amazing, especially when used to illustrate flowers. Totally engrossed in this task and found it very relaxing!
House on stilts
Another limited palette, the main feature here is the reflections in the water. This is my second attempt. Spent a few happy hours on this image.
Female portrait
Another black and white acrylic, prepared several mixes to create different tones.
Completely 'lost' her nose at one point, but by carefully applying more tone managed to recover it. That's the beauty of acrylic over watercolour---areas can be altered all through the process.
Overall I'm fairly satisfied but should have taken more care when filling in the background, too rushed, a last minute sort of thing

The Pear
The main aim of this task was to demonstrate that by blending and mixing you only need a very limited palette of as little as three colours. The colours used for the pear were Mars Black, Cadmium Yellow and Cadmium Red.
This was an excellent task, learned a lot.

Castle Door
This was a huge challenge, as far outside my 'comfort zone' as it's possible to go.
The task was to sketch the door using pen and ink. Then identify shadow areas by using various hatching techniques.
Watercolour was added to certain areas to make the image more lively.
Definitely high value concentration, no hurrying this one along!
Took several hours but happy to have persevered and the result is not too shabby!

The Jug
The process in this task was very interesting as well as engaging.
The exercise involved creating tonal values using only Black and White Acrylic.
The result is amazing and I am very happy with it.
From an artistic point of view, black and white acrylic is definitely my favourite medium.
