After Kyffin Williams 1
I used Gouache for the snow covered peaks image.
I kept faith with the limited palette of Kyffin Williams, black and white with a couple of yellows and a tiny touch of burnt Sienna.

After Kyffin Williams 2
Another piece in the style of Kyffin Williams!!
I used watercolour for this rural image, same principle, limited palette.
Actually I weakened regarding the sky, and couldn’t resist a tiny bit of cobalt.
Very much enjoyed playing around with just a few colours, mixing and testing to find the right tone etc. Turns out there is no limit at all.

Trees
Original painting by Bonnie Vasquez.
Using only black and white acrylics and mixing to achieve various shades of grey.
Trees in foreground very dark/black, then making mix lighter by adding white a little at a time - the trees seem to recede into the distance, the more white that’s added to the original mix the more depth is achieved.
Very simple and effective.
Enjoyed this exercise and got a lot of pleasure from it.

Mixed media Still life
From an original painting by
Shirley Hau Yi Lau.
Sketched in pencil then several layers of Gouache and finished with touches of pastel pencil, smudged.
Although it’s a simple composition I’m strongly attracted to the subject, particularly the muted colours used by the artist.
My version is much more vibrant, and has a totally different ‘look’.
I got a lot of pleasure out of this task and am ok with my interpretation, so overall I am happy.

Moody road
Very wet road on a dreich day.
Black and white acrylic showing tonal values.
Should have used smoother paper. The acrylic wouldn’t spread without adding water.
Meaning if dreich, dreary, gloomy, bleak, miserable, grey, depressing, devoid of sunshine!
