Pen and ink sketch of Mostar Bridge, Bosnia. Finished with watercolour washes.
Girl Brushing Her Hair
All done using pastel pencils on pastelmat paper.
After much deliberation, I took ownership of the piece and to keep it simple, decided not to include any background. I feel that the girl sits very well on the white fluffy rug brushing her hair.
I was totally engrossed in this task and thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Pen and wash after Rembrandt
This is a copy of a sketch by Rembrandt of a Dutch landscape. Lightly sketched in pencil, applied multiple layers of colour using raw and burnt umber, raw and burnt sienna and some paynes grey, letting dry completely between layers. Fairly happy with the outcome, also pleased with the ‘letter box’ format which I feel adds a wee bit of interest.
Pen and Ink Village
This image is my version of the original by Rob Adam.
Sketched lightly in pencil then gone over in black pen. Lots of hatching/ cross hatching. To finish I added some watercolour washes to add interest.

Woman portrait
The original of this image is by Italian artist Elena Brazzale.
I used a small grid method to help accurately place the facial features, I found the hands quite tricky, but got there in the end.
The technique was multiple layers of watercolour washes, some of them wet into wet.
My limited palette of burnt sienna, raw umber, light red and lashings of indigo created something vaguely resembling the original.
This was an absorbing and satisfying exercise. Very enjoyable.

St Fagans
This image is of Esgair Moel Woolen Mill, one of many interesting building’s located at St Fagans Museum. I have visited this place on several occasions so probably been in this building.
Sketched in pencil then gone over with pen and ink to define the detail, finished with some watercolour washes.
Enjoyed this very much even though it was a lonesome task. Missed the class because the weather turned wintery.
