Anita's Gallery - April 2021

Buildings
Firstly a coat of sepia colour was added. Light pencil was used to outline buildings, biro was then used to do the main content of picture, I then used white pastel to highlight.

Flower
Quick pencil sketch, outlined with biro and coloured with a watercolour wash

Cup, Apple Flower
Again painted all over the paper with yellow Ochre let it dry, Pencil sketch and biro were the applied

Buildings
I love doing this type of work , again pencil was used to outline, biro was used to outline the buildings, a set of perlestant water colours were used to colour in.

Industrial
I loved doing this picture. Firstly the whole area was coloured with a very diluted Colbert blue, then I lifted off some blue with tissue paper to make the clouds. A very very soft pencil was used to do a rough outline of factory buildings and blue, grey and a tiny amount of red was used to build up the various shades.

Landscape
Firstly I painted all over the paper with Yellow Ochre and burnt sienna let it dry overnight. The stones, trees and grass were added using a biro

Sky
I love mono tonal pictures, this was achieved by firstly using a compass to do the moon and the outer rings and then individual strokes were added radiating outward.the other features were added by using different shading methods scribbling, hatching and cross hatching.

Boulders
Quite enjoyed this task, firstly it was loosely sketched out with a soft pencil. Details were added using a black fine liner, a very diluted wash was added using the tinyist amount of ink and then layers were added with slightly more ink adding depth. More details were added using a fine liner

Chicken
These were done as a quick sketches using pencil, biro and a little water colour just to enhance.

Dylan Thomas
They say acrylics are very forgiving, so please forgive me Dylan.
First attempt at a portrait in acrylics.
Firstly the paper was gridded out then lightly sketched, although It was gridded I struggled with proportions. Then acrylics paint was used mixed with a little water.
I lack confidence with this type of painting.
Should I put myself out of my comfort zone more often? yes but it actually knocks my confidence, as I dont like failure in anything I do.

Onion
The basic shape was sketched out lightly with a soft pencil, then the details were filled in using a Biro for 98% of the work and a 0.3 black fine liner was used where needed. I finished off smudging a little pencil here and there to blend it together. I found this task relaxing and enjoyable.

Tenby
Overall I'm not really pleased with this picture, the photograph wasn't clear to me I struggled with the finer details. It was lightly lightly sketched and then filled with watercolour.

OLd Boots
Really enjoyed doing these. I started with a grid and lightly sketched the outline with pencil, once I could see the shape of the boots I went into more detail with a 0.3 Waterproof fine liner. I started shading with a soft grade 3b pencil , but felt it lacked a bit of depth so I filled in with watercolour, I used Burnt Sienna and Yellow Ochre

Trees
This was sketched out using an 8B soft leaded pencil. This soft lead is lovely to do all your shading with as you can get so many shades by applying layer on layer, adding more pressure then using a putty eraser taking areas out to lighten the picture up. This was a lovely task to do also very relaxing.
