I joined this art class as a absolute beginner, it started online in March 2021, I have to admit it was with the attitude “I'll give it a go” in the first part of the class I listened in to the other students and the Tutor, The first exercise, was a Pen and Wash Trees, the biggest surprise for me that they actually looked like trees. I did look on the internet for a few tips. I really enjoyed my first lesson

Rocks

Rocks were next, this was ink wash and pen, this took a lot of concentration, it was another learning curve, because I learned that once you applied the pen there was no going back. My interest in art was becoming a real pleasure

Flower

Flowers are very satisfying and pleasant to draw and colour, I started with pencil drawings, then went to the internet to get a few tips on shading, I found this very relaxing, I had fun with this. At last I realised that art is your own interpretation, as long as you give the tutor what he asks for

Tenby

Landscape, and Seascape I felt were quite challenging, in fact the moment of truth, because I had no idea how to paint. The subject was the bandstand in Tenby. The sketch was a little out of proportion, but plodded on, not my finest moment. This was when I decided I would get better at art. This was also the first time I had attempted water colours, and realised I would need a lot more help in my new hobby.

Old-Boots

The next pencil sketch I tried, were a pair of old boots. With a lot of rubbing out and effort, I continued in my own time. I was pleased with the end result, and found I was warming to art class in a big way.

Apple andMud- or art

I used a graph to get the proportions of this apple and mug sketch, I will use this method again. I find that I view things in a different light now, I see everything around me as images I might like to draw

Chateaux

Pen and wash for pleasure a house in pastel colours, this is my best effort yet, being back in class with the benefit of seeing other students work, and getting their encouragement.
