Margaret Perrott's Artwork

Aberystwyth
This task was always going to be a tall ask of me due to my longstanding dislike of anything related to seasides. I struggled with shall I / shan’t I for ages but decided to look for a different image. I found this one on Etsy, I loved the shape and it’s simplicity and of course the pen and ink and I actually really enjoyed it.
The starling murmuration was also an attraction as I’ve watched the video online and the synchronised flight is fascinating.

Old Cottage
I liked this quirky house it looked interesting. It was reasonably easy one to start with. I’m a little disappointed with my watercolour application as I seem to have lost my touch with paint.

Pen and ink sketch with wash of colour
Usually I prefer images involving pen and ink left as such but I am happy with this light addition of watercolour paint.

barn sketch in pencil
I love the colours and the misty effect of this picture. Layering the various scenic additions was fun and I enjoyed the exercise, I’m a little disappointed with the building element but overall reasonably happy with the result.

poster style landscape
This picture looked quite simplistic and was to an extent. The problem I found was mixing enough paint to cover a chosen area, gouache is a lovely texture but it is also demanding of the quantity usage. I did enjoy this painting but to get the smooth effect wasn’t quite achieved.

Landscape pen and wash
I like this artist’s work it has a relaxing feel about it. Simply sketched in pen with a gentle watercolour wash. It was calming and enjoyable but also distracting allowing me to forget current health issues for a short while.

Monet Poppy Field Acrylic
This artwork is very busy and quite intense with it’s many layers of paint. It was difficult to mix the correct shades of paint , however it kept me occupied thinking of solutions to get the required effect. I forgot to drink my tea and my chocolate biscuit melted in my pocket. I did enjoy it although it was testing , I have previously painted this scene but probably binned it as I no longer have it. I shall be keeping this one as I’m quite pleased with it.

Out building ink and wash
The watercolour addition was relatively straightforward, I think I may have applied it too strongly on the trees behind the building but overall I am pleased with the result

Out building
I enjoyed this pencil sketch , it was relaxing and an interesting image. At home I studied it and decided to blend in some of the mark making and it pleased me more to make it neater in appearance.
